H.A.Davie was first registered as a limited company in July 1902 but had commenced trading in Sunderland several years earlier as Engineers, Millwrights and Licensed Valuers.Henry Angus Davie was the founder and first Managing Director of the company. He was a mechanical engineer with an interest in the embryo motor trade and one of the first agencies held by the Company was on behalf of the National Gas Engine Co. Ltd.
During the 1920's, the Company developed from being solely mechanical engineers and opened a showroom in Chester Road, Sunderland from which it sold electrical equipment. In 1927 it became an agent for Frigidaire refrigeration equipment.
From this date, although continuing to work as electrical contractors, they soon became more involved in the rapidly developing refrigeration market with customers as diverse as ice cream manufacturers and local hospitals.In 1979, the current Managing Director, David Martin-Jones, with colleagues bought the Company from its previous owners and in 1983 the Company moved to its current premises in Houghton-le-Spring.

Air conditioning can be installed to suit most applications from small domestic units to the larger VRF systems for multiple office environments. Many of Mitsubishi’s air conditioning systems are listed on the governments enhanced capital allowance (ECA) scheme.
These units are recognised for their relatively low running costs gained through new inverter technology. If our customer has a preferred manufacturer of air conditioning we can of course
supply and install any available brand.
We provide breakdown cover for all makes and models of air conditioning and can provide quotations for annual maintenance contracts if required.Maintenance contracts,H.A.Davie has been involved in the refrigeration industry for many years and as such is aware of the importance or refrigeration and air conditioning in the day to day running of your business.
We understand the catastrophic effects and financial consequences that a system failure can have. We obviously cannot guarantee against system failures but we do believe that by carrying out routine maintenance on equipment many future problems can be eradicated.
H.A.Davie offer a number of maintenance schemes to suit clients individual needs. From July 2006 the European ‘F’Gas regulations were introduced and from July 2007 it became law that all users of refrigeration equipment containing more than 3kg of refrigerant must maintain detailed records regarding any refrigerant loss.
The regulations also state that systems must be regularly maintained and leak tested. H.A.Davie can assist our customers to comply with this regulation by providing the necessary paperwork and maintenance visits as required.
